If you have children travelling with you they will love a visit to Aqua Park Junior Land. It can be found on the road from Bergerac to Bordeaux. As well as 4 swimming pools there are lots of different things to do such as beach volleyball, canoeing, small bikes, mountain bikes and even quads. There is also mini-golf, bowling and archery amongst other interests for children and adults too. There’s a sauna and jacuzzi and hammam (Turkish bath). The whole family can have a fun filled day here.
If market shopping is your pleasure then the Covered Market could be the place for you. Browsing or buying from the stalls which have arts and crafts, wines, fruit, local foods, snacks and much more. The Covered Market is open daily for you to bag yourself a bargain.
Bergerac has some lovely old buildings and churches to visit. The Bergerac Museum of Religious Art is within a 17th century building and has an interesting display of paintings, sculpture and religious objects. St Jacques church is not to be missed when you are in Bergerac. One of the main attractions is the listed church organ which is one of the best looking in the whole country. Notre Dame church was designed by architect Paul Abadie. The bell tower is 80 metres in height and stands way above the city.
Le Vieux Port – The Harbour has been vital in Bergerac’s trading past and the export of local wines and wood for the construction of barrels was once a main trade. It’s a really good place to visit and find out how Bergerac became the city it is now.
